5 Exciting New Updates for GMC’s 2024 Lineup

So, let’s cover some of the exciting new features that GMC has available for Atlantans looking to get into an SUV or pickup for 2024…

#1) Two New Colors for the GMC Terrain

It’s easy to dismiss the importance of color choice when shopping for a vehicle, but colors are actually one of the biggest factors in peoples’ decisions to purchase. In fact, 60% of potential car shoppers see a car’s color as an important factor in whether they’ll buy the vehicle or not. Thus, GMC has been expanding its color options over the years, and the time has come again for the palette to adorn the GMC Terrain.

For 2024, this compact SUV has received two new color options in the form of Riptide Metallic and Downpour Metallic. They join the six other available colors: White Frost Tricoat, Summit White, Ebony Twilight Metallic, Volcanic Red Tintcoat, Sterling Metallic, and Deep Bronze Metallic. These are available for the different trims for the 2024 GMC Terrain, which spans the SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali.

If you’re curious what these two new colors look like, they’re both different shades of blue. Riptide Metallic is a soft yet vibrant deep metallic blue, which is great if you want something that stands out, especially during the sunny season. Downpour Metallic is a more subdued blue, with slightly less saturation and hue than Riptide Metallic; it’s a great color if you want something more refined for professional occasions or cruising through Atlanta’s bustling nightlife.

#2) Two New Colors for the GMC Sierra

There are a handful of new features for the 2024 GMC Sierra, which includes two additional premium aluminum wheel options and two brand-new colors. While the wheel options are nice, the two new colors are particularly interesting because they capitalize on what GMC introduced for the Terrain while bringing something distinctly different. At the end of the day, choice is always king in car shopping.

For the 2024 Sierra, you now have Downpour Metallic joining the lineup, along with Thunderstorm Gray; these join a slate of six other colors, including Titanium Rush Metallic, Summit White, Onyx Black, Sterling Metallic, White Frost Tricoat, and Redwood Metallic.

Downpour Metallic is the same as the one available for the GMC Terrain, giving you that deep, low-saturation blue for the Sierra 1500 and HD series. However, you also get Thunderstorm Gray, a bold-looking color that’s almost like a lighter version of Gunmetal Gray. So, if you wanted something vigorous, decisive, and distinct, Thunderstorm Gray would be a good choice.

#3) New TurboMax and Powertrain Warranty

Warranty information isn’t necessarily the most glamorous thing you can slap on a product sheet for a new update. Most people might handwave it away—but when you introduce new warranties for a revamped feature, it adds a lot more weight as an enticing proposition for those shopping for a new vehicle. In this case, there’s a brand-new warranty for the new TurboMax powertrain.

“TurboMax” is the new name for the 2.7L high-output turbocharged four-cylinder engine. From 2024 onward, this high-output, small-displacement engine will have a designation emblematic of the Duramax Turbo-Diesel, GM’s diesel mainstay; this accentuates how much promise GM has for its 2.7L I-4 as the new standard.

The TurboMax provides a lot of capability in a small package, delivering great towing and trailering power as well as highly efficient tuning to get the most out of your fuel economy. While a four-cylinder isn’t often at the top of a shopper’s “must-have” list when looking for a performance-oriented pickup, its reliability and performance in real-world use have kept it a popular option—hence the new designation.

To prove their commitment to the TurboMax, GM now issues this engine with an all-new five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. So, even if you’re skeptical about the TurboMax, GMC is guaranteeing a safety net wherein, if anything goes wrong, you can at least get it fixed for free. There’s really no downside if you’re planning on pushing your pickup to the limit and want some assurances for your powertrain’s dependability.

#4) Two New GMC Sierra Trims

One of the biggest updates for GMC’s 2024 lineup comes in the GMC Sierra HD series, receiving a lot of love via two new trims joining the slate. This comes after GMC found success with the Sierra 1500, taking further advantage of its off-road-centric capabilities thanks to the introduction of the AT4X and the AT4X AEV Edition. GMC also found success introducing the Denali Ultimate for the GMC Sierra 1500, and so now those upgraded off-road and luxury trims are available for the HD series.

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD can now be purchased in the AT4X, AT4X AEV Edition, and Denali Ultimate trims. These trims are jam-packed with new aesthetics and amenities themed around their intended audiences and are great for Atlanta drivers looking for luxury or off-road heavy-duty pickups. In the case of the Denali Ultimate, it means having access to exclusive 22-inch ultra-bright machined-faced aluminum wheels with bright chrome accents; you can also indulge in 16-way power front seats with massage capabilities and the premium 12-speaker Bose sound system.

If you’re a heavy-duty trucker who’s heavy into off-roading, either for work or for play, the GMC Sierra HD AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition offer the ultimate off-roading experience in a GMC. The latter trim features an AEV-designed stamped-steel front bumper with winch capability and an AEV-stamped boron-steel skid plate; you also get all of the other AT4X goodies, such as Multimatic’s DSSV electronically controlled dampers and dual electronically locking differentials, among a host of other neat trail-tailored features.

#5) The Hummer EV

This isn’t just an update to an existing trim, an existing package, or an existing model; the GMC Hummer EV SUV and GMC Hummer EV Pickup are entirely brand-new vehicles in GMC’s lineup. Bringing back the Hummer nameplate seems fitting, given that GMC is positioned around high-functioning utility with an air of technological luxury—and the Hummer EV is all about tech and luxury.

This big, beautiful pickup or SUV can be used for several purposes, with the ability to crab-walk using four-wheel turning and to easily plot your path across unpredictable terrain with its multiple camera angles. You can even keep track of the vehicle’s position via the Unreal Engine-powered vehicle simulation on the massive 13.4-inch HD touchscreen; here, you have vehicle profiles, media access, wireless connectivity, and voice-command pass-through, all accessible through the highly versatile center console infotainment stack.

But the real story here is that the Hummer EV is an EV—meaning, yes, it’s an all-electric, battery-powered off-road vehicle with open-air design, pickup truck capabilities, and plenty of interior capacity. It rides on massive 35-inch tires, and it features plenty of undercarriage skid plate protection as you venture over rocky terrain and mud-covered hills.

Even if you don’t travel off-road, you’ll still be the envy of Atlanta. The Hummer EV is a real game-changer thanks to its Ultium Drive System consisting of three powerful electric motors, producing up to 830 hp and an unfathomable 11,500 lb-ft of torque. It’s a monster of pickup/SUV and the sort of vehicle that will have Atlantans flocking to our showroom.
