Hummer Reborn: The Exciting New Hummer EV SUV and Hummer EV Pickup

When the Hummer first hit the streets in the early 1990s, not many people knew what to make of it. Was this a military vehicle or something that we regular people could drive? Over the subsequent couple of decades, drivers did warm up to the idea of essentially having a tank in their driveway, but the Hummer’s popularity waned—in large part due to its thirsty nature—and it was discontinued in 2010.

Ten years have passed, and now it’s back—and this time, it is missing something pretty big: a gas engine. That’s right, the Hummer is now fully electric, and it is available in two auto classes: as an SUV and as a Pickup. Both of these models retain their military inspiration, but they can also claim to be “green” machines, on top of being more powerful and more technologically endowed than practically any other car on the road. So, let’s get to know them and explore why you should visit a GMC dealer like ourselves to check them out in person.

The 2025 Hummer EV SUV

Incredible Power

It wasn’t terribly long ago that electric vehicles were derided for being underpowered. Well, the Hummer EV SUV proves that you don’t need a gas engine to be muscular. This model’s base powertrain consists of two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery that combine to produce 570 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque. There is also an available powertrain with three motors, and this increases the output to 830 hp, and the torque goes up to an astonishing 11,500 lb-ft.

Even with all that power, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the Hummer EV isn’t the spryest of SUVs. It is a huge vehicle, after all. Here’s what’s so interesting, however: It is amazingly quick. If you go with the three-engine model, it can get from zero to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds in its Watts to Freedom launch mode.

Outstanding Handling

Just as its acceleration may be a surprise, so too is this EV’s agility. It handles beautifully for a vehicle its size. Plus, thanks to four-wheel steering, it has fantastic maneuverability, even in tighter spots. As you would probably expect from an SUV that looks like it should be decked out in camouflage, the Hummer EV SUV shines when conditions get rough. A plethora of off-road features can be added, including all-terrain tires, skid plates, electronically locking front and rear differentials, and even underbody cameras.

Amazing Range

You’re going to love many things about the Hummer EV SUV, and the fact that you will never need to purchase gas for it will surely be near the top of that list. As for fuel economy, it gets up to an EPA-estimated 59 MPGe in the city and 46 MPGe on the highway. When it’s time for a charge, a 240-volt charger will add about 16 miles of range per hour. For a much quicker charge, you’ll want to utilize DC Fast Charging, which can add 100 miles of range in only ten minutes. And when your Hummer EV SUV is fully juiced up, it offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 315 miles.

Tons of Space

Inside the Hummer EV SUV, you will find a large cabin that offers substantial headroom and legroom for five people. The seats are comfortable and come with synthetic leather upholstery and heating elements (and the ones in front have ventilation). Whatever you need to travel with, you’ll be accommodated, as this model has 35.9 cu.ft. behind the back row, which increases substantially to 81.8 cu.ft. when that row is folded down. Plus, the rear cargo door is powered!

Tech and Safety Features

The Hummer EV SUV is certainly tech-savvy. The dashboard consists of a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. Built-in features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google-based navigation, HD and satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. A wireless device charging pad, four USB ports, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, and push-button start are also standard.

You will love how your Hummer will help keep everybody protected, as it comes with numerous advanced systems. These include lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, forward automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring. It also comes with Super Cruise, which allows for semi-autonomous hands-free driving on hundreds of thousands of miles of compatible highways.

The 2025 Hummer EV Pickup

Extremely Potent

Like the SUV version, the Hummer EV Pickup is exceptionally powerful. The base setup has two electric motors and a battery that combine to produce 570 hp and 7,400 lb-ft of torque. The other option comes with three electric motors, and it offers 1,000 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. This truck actually tops the SUV version in quickness, with a zero-to-60-mph time of just three seconds. It can thrive on terrain, too, with available locking front and rear differentials, all-terrain tires, and skid plates.

Long Driving Range

Because the Hummer EV Pickup is a lot of fun, you won’t want to worry about charging up—and, fortunately, you won’t have to. The base setup offers an EPA-estimated range of 318 miles. Using a DC Fast Charging station can add 100 miles of range to your vehicle in as little as eleven minutes. As for fuel economy, the Hummer EV Pickup can get up to an EPA-estimated 59 MPGe in the city and 47 MPGe on the highway.

Excellent Capabilities

If you’re thinking about a truck, chances are good that you will want to do some towing or hauling—and the Hummer EV Pickup won’t disappoint. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 12,000 lbs and haul up to 1,485 lbs. The bed measures five feet long and four feet wide and contains 36.7 cu.ft. of space. In-bed lighting and a spray-in bedliner are standard, as is a multifunction tailgate with a step and handhold. Plus, you will have even more cargo room thanks to a front trunk (“frunk”) measuring 11.3 cu.ft.

Big and Comfortable

The Hummer EV Pickup has a lot of space inside, and its two rows accommodate up to five people. Standard comfort amenities include power-adjustable heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. Every model is well-equipped with great tech, as in-dash navigation, wireless device charging, four USB ports, and satellite radio are all included. It also comes with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 14-speaker Bose audio system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a 120-volt household-style power outlet, and a 13.4-inch touchscreen.

Driver Assistance Perks

Safety is another strong suit of the Hummer EV Pickup. It comes standard with forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera system. The Super Cruise hands-free driving tool found in the Hummer EV SUV is also included in the Hummer EV Pickup.
