The 2024 GMC Canyon Conquers Any Terrain
The 2024 model year has hit our dealership. If you’re looking at GMC trucks for sale, your timing couldn’t be better! A focus on creating vehicles with high-quality parts paired with a dedication to performance and reliability is what has made GMC an American institution for the last 113 years. The GMC Canyon carries these principles as smoothly as it tows a trailer and as securely as it hauls a load.
In 2023, GMC launched the third generation of the Canyon, just two years after a near-complete revamp of the model. The Canyon has continued to hone itself into a truck that is a crowd-pleaser since it first rolled off the assembly line in 2004. If you’re looking for a capable work truck, a high-performance off-roading truck, or if you’re just someone who enjoys driving a truck, the Canyon has the trims and options to create the truck of your dreams.
Tow, Haul, Go Off-Road: The Canyon’s Got It Covered
The 2024 Canyon comes standard with a 2.7L inline-four TurboMax engine that puts out a robust 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. With a best-in-class max towing capability of 7,700 lbs, you have the power to pull a variety of trailers, campers, and other pieces of equipment. The generous maximum payload capacity of 1,640 lbs allows for a range of heavy hauls. Whether you need the power for work or play, the Canyon delivers in bulk.
Canyons are some of the most beautiful natural places in America. They’re also tricky, sometimes even treacherous terrain. The GMC Canyon lives up to this name, with an emphasis on off-roading performance. This starts with a specially calibrated off-road suspension system that comes standard on all trims. An Autotrac two-speed transfer case allows you to switch to 4WD with the push of a button. Using technology to further your off-roading experience, the off-road performance display gives you up-to-the-minute information, including tire pressures, 3D pitch and roll, an altimeter, and a compass with GPS to help navigate your way along the trail.
The defining feature of pickup trucks is the bed, something that seems as common sense as water is wet and ice is cold. The Canyon, however, is not content to carry on a century-old tradition. It’s bringing the truck bed into 2024 with several exciting features. First up is the MultiStow tailgate, a first-in-class innovation exclusive to the Canyon. A storage compartment built into the tailgate itself allows you to easily access smaller items such as tools, camping gear, or provisions. A drain allows you to even use this compartment as a cooler for camping and tailgating. The bed boasts an available 120V power outlet, great for job sites and campsites alike. When your hands are full, the remote locking mechanism on the tailgate takes out the awkward package shuffle to get your keys. And when you’re hauling long objects, the half-gate position on the tailgate will help keep the load secure and stable.
Four Trims, Endless Possibilities
The Canyon has four trims available for 2024. Each offers different features geared to suit a variety of drivers. There are also options available across the trims for further customization, expanded infotainment options, and additional performance features.
The Elevation trim has an MSRP of $36,000.[a] The standard all-terrain tires carry the Canyon down the road at an estimated 19 MPG in the city and 23 MPG on the highway. Keyless open and start keeps you from having to empty your hands to get into the truck, protecting the items you’re carrying from being dropped. The available MultiStow tailgate system will help keep smaller items safe in a compartment within the tailgate once they’re out of your hands. When you settle behind the wheel, you can enjoy your favorite music, podcasts, or news programs with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
With an MSRP of $43,000, the AT4 trim focuses on expanding the off-roading capabilities of the Canyon.[a] The standard 4WD system, automatic locking rear differential, and advanced hill descent control will make your outdoor adventures smoother than ever. Four drive modes include settings for Terrain, Tow/Haul, and Off-Road to focus the capabilities of the Canyon to match the activity.
Anyone knowledgeable about GMC knows that “Denali” stands for top-of-the-line luxury. It’s no different on the Canyon, with the Denali trim offering sumptuous exclusives like diamond-cut 20-inch wheels and Teak accents to contrast with the Jet Black interior. The front seats have luxurious perforated leather-appointed seating. The open-pore, laser-etched wood contrasts with modern features like a 6.3-inch multicolor heads-up display. The Denali trim has an MSRP of $51,000––a fair price for the level of luxury it offers.[a]
With an MSRP of $54,300, the AT4X is the pinnacle of Canyon trims, pairing luxury and power to expand on the original AT4’s enhanced off-roading capabilities.[a] The trim offers an exclusive Obsidian Rush interior with Ceramic White accents. The Baja drive mode is another trim exclusive, pushing the Canyon to new heights of off-road capability. Front and rear locking differentials and Multimatic DSSV dampers enhance the available torque to the wheels for superior traction. This trim turns the Canyon into the ultimate off-roading beast.
In addition, the AT4X has an AEV special edition, which provides even more off-roading capabilities to the trim that is the pinnacle of the Canyon’s trailblazing talents. Stamped steel bumpers, hot-stamped boron steel skid plates, and front winch capability provide extra protection when you’re off the beaten path. Plus, 17-inch Salta wheels with beadlock capability hold 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory mud-terrain tires that are ready to face the elements. The AEV badging adds a final fun detail to the already eye-catching red, black, and white leather-appointed interior exclusive to the AT4X trim.
Bold Interiors for a Brawny Exterior
Let’s face it: some trucks are downright beautiful. The GMC Canyon has a muscular exterior with a smooth, aerodynamic feel that shouts its readiness to tackle whatever job you put in front of it. With eight exterior color options, this truck turns heads wherever it goes, whether it’s country backroads or city streets.
An attractive exterior deserves an equally pleasing interior. The Jet Black cabin is broken up by soft-touch surfaces on the instrument panel. Available options for Timber accents, Teak accents, and open-pore wood trim create striking contrasts. Leather-appointed seats are also available in the AT4 trim and standard in the Denali trim, adding an extra touch of luxury to an already alluring space.
Eyes On Technology
The command center of the 2024 Canyon’s technology offerings is an 11.3-inch center touchscreen. From this screen, you can control the available Bose seven-speaker sound system, which will make your favorite music sound better than ever. You can also choose what infotainment offerings you’d like from your phone using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. If you’d prefer to stream music, podcasts, and news programs, you can use the Wi-Fi hotspot. In addition, you can also pull up the GPS or access the off-road performance display.
A massive 11-inch driver information center screen shows statistics such as speed, engine RPM, and fuel levels; the available 6.3-inch heads-up display will project that information directly on your windshield for better visibility. The heads-up display can also be customized. There are 10 available camera views to aid in towing or provide extra eyes when piloting over difficult terrain.
Safe Trails Are Happy Trails
No option, package, or trim can ever be considered a more important feature than safety. No matter what you’re using your Canyon for, the goal of every drive is to make it home at the end of the day safe and sound. Not only do you deserve that, but so do your family and friends who ride with you, as well as the other drivers sharing the road with you. GMC agrees, which is why every 2024 Canyon comes standard with a range of safety features aimed at making sure your happy trails are also safe trails.
Forward Collision Alert warns you of potential collisions, while Automatic Emergency Braking will either help enhance your hard braking or do it for you if you don’t have the chance to react quickly enough. These features work together to give you the best chance at avoiding a front-end collision or reducing the severity of one if there isn’t a chance to evade. Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking work much the same way, but this time, it alerts you to people directly in front of your truck.
The faster you’re going, the more devastating the consequences of drifting from your lane. Lane Keep Assist will give your truck a gentle nudge back into its proper place if you don’t react to the Lane Departure Warning. Tailgating is another danger factor, one that many drivers struggle with, especially in heavy traffic. The Following Distance Indicator will let you know how much of a gap exists between you and the vehicle in front of you, helping you stay aware of the three-second rule for maintaining a safe driving distance. The IntelliBeam headlights detect your driving speed, weather conditions, and the presence of other vehicles to make sure your high beams are on when they’re needed and off when they might cause a hazard to other drivers.
The Canyon Safety Plus Package is available on the Elevation and AT trims, coming standard on the Denali and AT4X trims. This upgrade provides additional safety features, including Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, and Rear Park Assist. Blind Zone Steering Assist can provide a quick correction to keep you from colliding with a vehicle in your blind zone. Rear Cross Traffic Braking detects vehicles crossing behind you, offering first an alert and then automatic braking to prevent collision, while Rear Park Assist helps keep you from backing into vehicles or other objects. These two features both have driving applications but are mostly geared toward parking, a department many drivers could use the extra help in.
