Welcome to Jim Ellis Buick GMC Atlanta
The GMC lineup includes a fantastic selection of trucks and SUVs, though few are quite as impressive or as iconic as the Sierra 1500 pickup. With the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500, you can see how perfectly GMC brings engineering and design together to create a vehicle that is powerful, dependable, and remarkably sophisticated. Whether you need a new work truck to get you to a job site each day, want to grow your fleet for commercial challenges, or you need something that can work and play as hard as you can, the GMC Sierra 1500 has you covered.
You have four different engines available to you with the Sierra 1500, which makes it easy to choose the right option with the kind of power and capability you need. There are three gas engines on offer, including a standard 2.7L Turbo I-4 that delivers a fantastic 430 lb-ft of torque, along with a 6.2L V8 engine that gives you 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. If you prefer the feel and power of a diesel engine, then you will certainly be happy with the Sierra 1500’s Duramax Turbo Diesel, which has been improved for the 2023 model year, and its output has been boosted up to 495 lb-ft of torque. Not only does this kind of power make the Sierra 1500 incredibly rewarding to drive, but it also allows the diesel engine to tow as much weight as the most-powerful V8 engine.
Speaking of towing, the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is ready to help you get all of your work done with impressive muscle and capability. With the standard engine, you can pull up to 9,500 lbs behind the Sierra 1500, while the available 6.2L V8 and Turbo Diesel can both handle up to 13,000 lbs of towing. Perhaps best of all, such fantastic capability does not come at the expense of comfort and sophistication, as the GMC Sierra 1500 offers some of the most impressive luxury and technology features available anywhere. Between the exquisite seating and spacious interior, and the fact that you have more than 40 inches of combined digital displays available to you, the Sierra 1500 delivers a driving experience beyond anything else.
Although the engine is an important consideration for any vehicle, there is no denying that it is particularly vital when you look at a powerful, hard-working truck to determine if it will be able to meet your needs. So much depends on your truck’s engine, not only your daily driving experience and its overall performance but also how well it can handle the work you need to do. The GMC Sierra 1500 has four different engines available, which gives you the freedom to get exactly the right amount of power for what you need. These engines are available with either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD), though certain configuration and trim options are only offered with 4WD.
The standard engine for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is a 2.7L Turbo High-Output I-4, the only four-cylinder engine offered on the Sierra 1500, which delivers 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which provides a smooth driving experience, and though this is the starting option, it still delivers a fantastic ride. If you want greater power, however, then there is an available 5.3L V8 engine with Dynamic Fuel Management for optimal efficiency, which delivers 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. While that is a bit less torque than the standard engine, the boost in horsepower makes up for it, and you get a ten-speed automatic transmission with this and all other available engines for the Sierra 1500.
For even greater power, you have two more options starting with a fantastic 6.2L V8 engine, also with Dynamic Fuel Management, which delivers a massive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This available V8 for the Sierra 1500 has been a favorite for several years now, and it continues to impress with remarkable power and excellent performance. If you prefer a diesel option, then there is an available Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel I-6 engine that delivers 305 hp and a monstrous 495 lb-ft of torque. This diesel engine is truly a beast, and it is a perfect choice if you need something that can handle anything and go anywhere.
For most of us, the true value of a great truck comes not just from the driving experience it provides or how well it can handle whatever the road throws at us, but from the kind of work it can get done. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 is an incredible workhorse with tremendous power that comes through in the form of real-world capability designed to let you get your job done day after day. Your choices can have a notable impact on the kind of work that the Sierra 1500 can handle, particularly the engine you choose and whether you pick a model with rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD). That being said, any Sierra 1500 that you get will be ready to tackle a lot of work.
If you need to be able to load up a lot of stuff in the bed and take it all with you, then the GMC Sierra 1500 is ready to deliver. You have several different bed lengths available to you, including an 80-inch standard box, a 98-inch long box, and a 70-inch short box. In terms of payload capacity, the engine and drive type you choose has a big impact since they both alter how much weight is already on your truck. For example, a RWD setup with either the standard 2.7L or available 5.3L engines can handle up to 2,240 lbs of maximum payload. If you go with the powerful 6.2L V8 engine, however, then the maximum payload is 1,820 lbs.
Just as important as the weight you can load your truck up with is how much stuff you can haul behind you in a trailer. The standard engine for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 offers 9,400 lbs of maximum towing capacity with a RWD setup or 9,200 lbs with 4WD. That is a great place to start, but the available 5.3L V8 engine pushes that capability up to 11,200 lbs of maximum towing. Going with the available 6.2L V8 engine, the Sierra 1500 can handle up to 13,000 lbs of towing capacity. If you want to get the most from your truck, then the Turbo-Diesel is the way to go, as it can handle 13,000 lbs of towing with a 4WD setup.
GMC has long been highly regarded for making some of the most comfortable and innovative vehicles on the road, and the 2023 Sierra 1500 continues to live up to that reputation. The kinds of features you find will depend on the trim you choose, with the legendary Denali trim coming through as a gorgeous offering with a lot to offer. Inside the Denali, you will find perforated leather seating with ten-way power adjustable driver and front-passenger seats, both of which are heated and ventilated. You get a heated, wrapped steering wheel in the Denali with dual-zone automatic climate control and carpeted floor mats in the front and rear.
Although there is no denying that the Sierra 1500 Denali is gorgeously comfortable, its tech features are where GMC has taken things to the next level. With the Denali, you get a 13.4-inch GMC Premium Infotainment system with Google built-in, along with a Bose seven-speaker Premium Series sound system with a Richbass woofer. The Denali features support for Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus you get a 12.3-inch Driver Information Center that you can personalize with the information you need most. Combine that with a wireless charging pad, Keyless Open and Start with Remote Start, and an available multi-color 15-inch Head-Up Display, and you have a truly exceptional driving experience.
